Amanda van Gils
Best known for her contemporary ‘motion landscapes’ Amanda van Gils typically paints those landscapes that are unremarkable and often overlooked. Through her considered use of colour and line, these unremarkable tracts of land are transported into luminous places of beauty. Amanda’s work underscores her approach to life – looking for the good and interesting, and seeing possibility. Her positivity is infectious.
Since 2000, Amanda has exhibited in numerous exhibitions throughout Australia and overseas. Her work has been selected for national art prizes including; the Sunshine Coast Art Prize, Mosman Art Prize, Fleurieu Art Prize, Tattersall’s Club Landscape Art Prize and others.
Her work has been included in publications such as Vogue Living, Queensland’s Sunday Mail, Art/Edit magazine, and has been acquired for Greenslopes Private Hospital, Gold Coast University Hospital, Monash University, and various private collections in Australia and overseas.
Amanda holds a Bachelor of Fine Art from Monash University and a Post Graduate in Visual Art from the Victorian College of the Arts (VCA).
In addition to her art practice, Amanda has extensive business experience and is the founder of online art gallery ART500 representing over 20 contemporary Australian Artists and the art coaching business, The Artists Business Lounge.
